i'm getting a message in a red banner in the top of the page saying "Physics requires external JavaScript from another domain, which is blocked or failed to load"

I've never seen it before. what is it about?

EDIT i'm using google chrome, for some reason i can't comment (it says 2 more to go..)

What browser/OS are you using? – mbq May 6 '11 at 14:08

The "n more to go" is the number of additional character to reach the minimum. – dmckee May 6 '11 at 15:26

The message shows up when jQuery isn't available, which ususally happens because ajax.googleapis.com is blocked by things like NoScript.

Strangely enough, if you can comment (as dmckee says, the "2 more to go" thing actually means it is working), that means jQuery is indeed there.

On what site precisely are you getting this banner? On physics.SE? On meta.physics.SE? Both? Does it also happen on other sites? And are you seeing this on every page, or just once in a while?

in both, physics.SE and meta.physics.SE but that was yesterday on my laptop, i can confirm later in the day if the issue still persists. For example, right now running Safari under windows XP 64bit (yeah i know, WTH) its running fine. Also yesterday at work running google chrome on windows 7 was ok too on the afternoon – lurscher May 7 '11 at 18:39
